If we contacted you out of the blue
We identify installers from public sources — the MCS certified installer directory, Companies House, and publicly listed business contact details. We use that information to tell relevant businesses about a service we think is useful to them.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: promoting a relevant business service to businesses likely to want it. We have weighed that against your interests, and you can object at any time.
We only send business-to-business marketing email to corporate subscribers — limited companies and LLPs, confirmed against Companies House. Where a business is a sole trader or unincorporated partnership, it counts as an individual subscriber under PECR, and we do not email or text it for marketing without prior consent. We never send marketing SMS without consent, from anyone.
What we hold
- Business name, address, website, and publicly listed business contact details
- Certification and company information from MCS and Companies House
- A record of what we sent you, when, and anything you sent back
- Whether you have opted out, and when
Stopping us
Every message has a one-click opt-out, or use our unsubscribe page, or simply reply and say so. We action it immediately and keep a minimal suppression record — your contact details and the fact you opted out — so that we do not contact you again by mistake. That suppression record is kept indefinitely, because deleting it would defeat its purpose.
How long we keep it
- Prospects we never hear from: 12 months, then deleted
- Businesses we work with: for the relationship, plus 6 years for tax and contractual records
- Suppression list: indefinitely, minimal detail only
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@retrofitplan.co.ukand we will respond within one month. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
Homeowner data
Where we pass a homeowner’s details to you, they have given explicit consent for that specific purpose and we record the exact wording they agreed to. You become an independent controller of that data on receipt and must handle it under your own privacy notice. We do not sell personal data to advertisers, data brokers or list resellers.
